Woman gets petty after discovering her roommate Aunt borrowed her favorite sauce, gets dragged online: 'You got revenge on a relative over a couple of dollars of sauce?'

This is exactly why one should never live with one's aunt.

It doesn't matter how cool they are. It doesn't matter if you think you're the same age on a spiritual or emotional level. The generational differences are likely just too much to overcome for a healthy living situation. Yes, it would be different if you were living with a parent. After all, presumably you would have grown up with that parent. You would have had experience understanding what the boundaries should be and what kind of household is ideal for both of you. However, if you're living with your aunt for the first time in your life as an adult, you're far more likely to experience a side of them you didn't even know existed when you were a kid who visited her once or twice a year.

What's most surprising about this anecdote is that the person who was out of line here was actually not the aunt; it was her niece. The author of this story took to the internet to express her grievances after she discovered that her aunt had consumed some of the Bachan's Japanese Barbecue sauce the author had bought in bulk. That's right, it's not like she finished the bottle without permission. The aunt just took some of the sauce when there was plenty left over for the author to use.

  • Thankfully, people online gave this woman a hard time for thinking she was entitled to enact petty revenge on her aunt. Most folks agreed that, within reason, sauce is one of those communal products that residents within a household can use at will, like paper towels or toilet paper. It's not like she ate an entire chicken that the author had been preparing or something. This lady has got to relax! Clearly, she's the problem here!

  • See, I have this one sauce i always buy when i go shopping or specifically out to costco. I think its called bachans. Its delicious, like soy sauce but less salty and more versatile. One day i grabbed a bottle of my holy ambrosia and noticed like 1/4th of it was entirely gone. These bottles are big too like 34 fl oz's (964 grams for the europeans).

  • So naturally i was shocked. I never used this much in even 3 days let alone one. So I asked around a little and lo and behold my aunt openly admitted to it. I decided not to call her out (which in hindisight wouldve been the better thing to do) and instead decided to grab my bachans and pour out half of the bottle. Replacing it with soy sauce.

  • Edit: Since someone asked she lives with me, this wasnt the first time she did this, and she knows i like this sauce and dont want others using it and ive told her before not to use it. Ive even suggested buying her, her own bottle so she wont use mine.
